ASA banned advertisment

Our teacher Michael during the Media Theory class asked if based on the British censorship standards and regulations the picture above was offensive. I and Abeke (a girl from Kazakhstan) said “yes”, Joanna (a girl from Eastern Europe) also agreed with us. Middle Eastern guys in the class, too. All the London- brought-up students thought that was not offensive. They said: "The model is perfect and has got a perfect body. So, what's wrong with that? Com-on!" I understood their point, but there was something, I would never understand: they were all Christians and felt nothing sacred about Christ and his CROSS.

After a long discussion, Michael gave us a print out from the ASA (Advertising Standards Authority) website. There was a note with a big letters: Objections that this advertisement was tasteless, provocative and blasphemous to Christians were upheld. The picture was banned after receiving many complaints from the readers of THE SUNDAY TIMES magazine.
